Southampton man charged after three held over people smuggling

One of three men arrested as part of an investigation into people smuggling with police in Belgium has been charged.The South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU) worked with Belgian law enforcement to arrest two men in Bournemouth.A man in Belgium was also held and five men, believed to be intending to travel to the UK by lorry, were stopped.Ibrahim Sollaku, 33, from Priory Road, Southampton, has been charged with conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration into the UK…

Cows rescued from overturned trailer near Crediton

A number of cows became trapped and needed rescuing after a trailer overturned on a road.Crews from Danes Castle fire station in Exeter were sent to the scene on the outskirts of Crediton at 06:29 GMT on Friday.Police confirmed that local road closures were put in place while emergency services dealt with the situation.A winch was used to release five cows before crews worked to right the trailer, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said.
