Out Now
Young Salford based troubadour John Denton releases Waiting ‘Till It All Works Out, his second track since signing to Modern Sky.
John Denton has been making waves with his heartfelt lyrics and captivating melodies for a couple of years now and practically a veteran despite not yet turning 16, undoubtably helped by winning the prestigious Salford Foundation Trust Johnny Marr Award in 2023, earning the support and mentorship of Johnny himself.
He has been featured on numerous platforms, including the NME, Far Out, BBC Northwest, Granada Reports, BBC 5 Live, BBC Radio Manchester and XS Manchester. Last year he was also invited to meet ‘The Boss’ himself, Bruce Springsteen when the legend appeared at Coop Live.
Louder Than War initially covered the singer/songwriter when frontman of the band The Height, who releasing several singles before parting ways shortly after his 14th birthday in 2024 and I first caught him performing live at a sold out gig at Bask in Stockport around a couple of years ago. Despite his age his music resonates with a growing audience who have eagerly anticipated his solo releases.
Waiting ‘Til It All Works Out is the latest track from his EP which is due for release on 26th June containing the emotive and powerful music that we’ve come to expect. His first solo release, Not the Same had already achieved over 15k streams and national praise before his most recent release, the first for Modern Sky, Someone Else’s Game gained more praise from critics.
He describes the single as, ‘A thoughtful Indie track which talks of the impatience of youth awaiting the next stage in life.’ Perhaps the most powerful line, ‘I don’t know where I belong, but neither do you’, reflects a generation that feel unheard and displaced in modern society. In explaining the song’s meaning, John says, ‘It just tells the story of how I and many people my age feel. You’re always waiting for the next things to happen, but you’ve also got to live in the moment as well. I’m 15 so just finishing school, sometimes that can feel like it’ll take forever and sometimes it feels like it’s all coming so quickly. I guess that’s the way many 15 year olds feel and probably people younger and older than me’.
Catch John Denton live over the next few months, no doubt more dates will be announced.

A Plea From Louder Than War
Louder Than War is run by a small but dedicated independent team, and we rely on the small amount of money we generate to keep the site running smoothly. Any money we do get is not lining the pockets of oligarchs or mad-cap billionaires dictating what our journalists are allowed to think and write, or hungry shareholders. We know times are tough, and we want to continue bringing you news on the most interesting releases, the latest gigs and anything else that tickles our fancy. We are not driven by profit, just pure enthusiasm for a scene that each and every one of us is passionate about.
To us, music and culture are eveything, without them, our very souls shrivel and die. We do not charge artists for the exposure we give them and to many, what we do is absolutely vital. Subscribing to one of our paid tiers takes just a minute, and each sign-up makes a huge impact, helping to keep the flame of independent music burning! Please click the button below to help.
