A university has hosted a film crew from Strictly Come Dancing, enabling students to get a first-hand look at TV production.

Saturday’s final featured contributions from Bournemouth University students Eve Kimberley and Liv Teague, as part of a sequence of interviews with Strictly fans.

The pair, dressed in university cheerleader team outfits, voiced support for former Love Island star Amber Davies, who was a runner-up in the dancing show after being beaten to the title by former former England footballer Karen Carney.

Away from filming, a director from the programme gave a talk to media students about television careers.

The segment was pre-filmed at the university’s Talbot Campus on 9 September.

Ms Kimberley, who is studying sports therapy, told the programme: “I’m a big fan of movie week.”

She and Ms Teague, a medical science student, waved pompoms as they exclaimed: “Good luck Amber!”

Annie East, Principal Academic in Media Production, said the film crew’s visit was kept as a surprise to students.

She said: “It was fantastic to welcome the Strictly Come Dancing team and give our students the chance to connect with industry professionals.

“These conversations highlighted the opportunities behind the camera in production management where there is currently a high demand.”
