Torquay United midfielder Callum Dolan will miss the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury.

The 25-year-old was hurt in the second half of Saturday’s 4-1 win over Hampton and Richmond in National League South.

Dolan has ruptured a ligament in his knee and torn cartilage and will undergo surgery next week.

It is the latest blow for the player who was suspended for four games by the club in November for a disciplinary matter.

The former Fleetwood Town player had made 13 league appearances for the Gulls this season, scoring three times.

“I’m bitterly disappointed for the player and the team,” manager Paul Wotton told the club website.

“It’s another injury setback, but we will keep moving forward.”
