The indie legend™ Charley Stone releases new single, Forever Your Love,  to celebrate Valentine’s Day

London-based Charley’s latest release, Forever Your Love, is a mellow, dreamy track about unrequited love. It follows on from October’s single I’ve Gotta Know, which dealt with subconscious pleas for deeper connection within a situationship. The new single explores the thoughts and feelings of a hopeless romantic longing for ‘the one’ who remains utterly unobtainable.

Opening and closing with a cyclical guitar motif and unfolds across four verses detailing four stages of yearning. From being made to wait the emotional intensity ramps up slightly for each time, as layered guitars underpin a wistful vocal, which eventually acquires a slight edge as it concludes ‘forever your love won’t be waiting for me’.

Talking of the track Charley says, ‘Like most of my songs, this one mutates quite a bit whenever I play it live – there’s a lot of scope for the instrumental sections to expand and drift and they often do – a bit like the yearn itself, I suppose. This recorded version acquired an organic structure and a softer tone than expected, and I imagine it will go somewhere else again next time I try to pin it down.’

Forever Your Love is the second of three tracks in a loose trilogy intended as precursor to a second studio album. As with the album Here Comes The Actual Band, all three were recorded with the Actual Band at Jon Clayton’s OneCat Studio in Crystal Palace, London. The third and final track of this series is pencilled for release on 1st May.

The singles artwork, as ever, was drawn by hand by Charley hereself, ‘a key manifesto point for me when making things is that I want it all to be very obviously human-made, with all of the messiness inherent in spontaneous DIY creativity.’

Forever Your Love will not be appearing on Spotify or Amazon, but should be available on all the other streaming platforms – although listeners are encouraged to download on Bandcamp to #supportTheArt and help fund future recording.

A Plea From Louder Than War

Louder Than War is run by a small but dedicated independent team, and we rely on the small amount of money we generate to keep the site running smoothly. Any money we do get is not lining the pockets of oligarchs or mad-cap billionaires dictating what our journalists are allowed to think and write, or hungry shareholders. We know times are tough, and we want to continue bringing you news on the most interesting releases, the latest gigs and anything else that tickles our fancy. We are not driven by profit, just pure enthusiasm for a scene that each and every one of us is passionate about.

To us, music and culture are eveything, without them, our very souls shrivel and die. We do not charge artists for the exposure we give them and to many, what we do is absolutely vital. Subscribing to one of our paid tiers takes just a minute, and each sign-up makes a huge impact, helping to keep the flame of independent music burning! Please click the button below to help.
