Ball, who took over at the Gulls earlier this month after Paul Wotton was sacked, handed a debut to new signing Reece Evans.

The Reading forward, who has played youth football for Northern Ireland, has joined Torquay until the end of the season.

He says with Evans and fellow new signing Dion Moore, the Gulls have a good array of attacking talent as they aim for a play-off place.

“He’s a handful, powerful, quick, aggressive, suits what we’re trying to do and how we’re trying to attack,” Ball said of Evans.

“He’s different. I think him and Dion Moore will give teams a problem because teams are used to Torquay having the ball in front of them.

“But now we’ve got a real threat in behind because he’s rapid, so people won’t be able to get as tight to our flair players and our players who can dribble, because we’ll have a threat in behind.”
