Jordan Young: Torquay United striker hailed by boss Paul Wotton

Torquay United striker Jordan Young has won praise for his work ethic from manager Paul Wotton.

The 26-year-old has scored four goals in his last three games and is second in the National League South goalscoring charts with 12 from 20 appearances.

Young moved to the Gulls from Yeovil Town just over a year ago and has found the target 22 times in the league over his time at Plainmoor.

“He’s got great technique but it’s not a fluke, Youngy practises it every day and he works hard on it,” Wotton said.

“He’s very good, technically he’s as good as I’ve coached really. He’s a fantastic player.

“But one thing with Jordan as well is he works hard at his game. Because his goal contribution is so high as in scoring and his assists, sometimes it’s easy to not see the work he does off the ball.

“He works hard, he gets through an awful lot of distance in a game and defensively he’s always back doubling up as well.

“At the moment he’s in a great run of form and long may it continue.”
