Woodhouse has had to bide his time for his chance to break into the Exeter City line-up.
He made his first start in the Carabao Cup loss at Cheltenham Town in August, but did not start a league game until the 2-1 defeat at Bolton Wanderers on 13 December.
He has since gone on to be a regular in the Exeter defence with his time in the side coinciding with an upturn in form that has seen the Grecians lose just one of their past eight League One matches.
“He ended up having to change positions tonight in that second half and I think that shows the versatility of him, the game understanding,” Exeter first-team coach Dan Green said.
“He’s a really intelligent footballer, but also a huge credit to the physicality that he’s got, being able to go up into midfield and change positions and then that moment of real quality, we know he’s got an outstanding left foot.
“I think he shows the best of what this club does, it gives players opportunity, it tries to develop them and then it’s fantastic to see them take that opportunity like he has.”
