Plymouth Argyle head coach Tom Cleverley has been handed a third touchline ban of the season after admitting to an FA charge of misconduct.

An independent regulatory commission handed the 36-year-old a one-match ban and a £2,000 fine after he was sent off shortly before half-time in Plymouth’s EFL Trophy win over Bristol Rovers on 13 January.

Cleverley received two yellow cards in quick succession after a decision went against his side and afterwards he said his reaction was “not good enough”.

The first was awarded for leaving his technical area and another for striking the dugout in reaction to the initial booking.

It is the former Manchester United midfielder’s third ban of the season.

He was banned for two matches after his first dismissal of the season in the League One win at Luton Town in September and then missed a further game in December for picking up a third booking of the campaign.
