As every year passes, Truck Festival appears to boast more and more names that could justifiably headline in their own right. This year Maccabees, Two Door Cinema Club, The Wombats, CMAT, The Libertines, Primal Scream, Kaiser Chiefs and The Vaccines will all be spread across four days at Hill Farm Oxford, between 23rd and 26th July.

If the names on the top of the poster don’t get the pulse rate up, then further down the list on the poster we have Friendly Fires, The Lottery Winners, Everything Everything and English Teacher before the names that have only recently become reliable festival acts such as Getdown Services, Westside Cowboy, Adult DVD and Good Health Good Wealth.

There’s  a very long list this year of bands we can recommend that are playing at Truck Festival this year. Just by browsing through the names recently announced we can see a lot of acts appearing that we have mentioned in the past on this site, like Punchbag, Silver Gore, My First Time, Gans, Picture Parlour and Kid Kapichi. All of them have caught our attention over the past twelve months or so. No doubt during the long weekend we’ll have time to catch up with some of these bands and come away with one or two additional names we may not yet seen yet or discovered.

Starting from the bottom and working our way up, here’s a small selection of performers that we may or may not have written too much about yet who are due to appear at Truck Festival this summer; bands that are worth leaving your tents for as soon as breakfast has been consumed. We’re sure you’re already familiar with the big names and their music, but the days start early and there’s a lot going on before the sun sets that you may want to also check out before grabbing the camping gear, grabbing a ticket and get prepared for another four days of quality music. Here are twenty bands we recommend that you may not be too familiar with at the moment.

A Plea From Louder Than War

Louder Than War is run by a small but dedicated independent team, and we rely on the small amount of money we generate to keep the site running smoothly. Any money we do get is not lining the pockets of oligarchs or mad-cap billionaires dictating what our journalists are allowed to think and write, or hungry shareholders. We know times are tough, and we want to continue bringing you news on the most interesting releases, the latest gigs and anything else that tickles our fancy. We are not driven by profit, just pure enthusiasm for a scene that each and every one of us is passionate about.

To us, music and culture are eveything, without them, our very souls shrivel and die. We do not charge artists for the exposure we give them and to many, what we do is absolutely vital. Subscribing to one of our paid tiers takes just a minute, and each sign-up makes a huge impact, helping to keep the flame of independent music burning! Please click the button below to help.
