Plymouth Argyle striker Bim Pepple’s third goal in four games shows he is “growing in confidence” according to head coach Tom Cleverley.
Pepple’s excellent strike in the 20th minute put the Pilgrims 1-0 up as they went on to draw 1-1 with Mansfield Town at Home Park.
The summer signing had struggled at the start of his time at Argyle, but has hit a rich vein of form, scoring two thirds of his six goals for the club in the last seven games.
“The one word I’d use for Bim is effective. I love working with players like that,” Cleverley told BBC Radio Devon.
“The academy system produces players now that are nice footballers on the eye, but do you affect the game of football?
“Do you score? Do you stop or do you create? And Bim certainly scores and creates.
“He’s a nightmare to mark, he’s growing in confidence.”
Pepple missed a good chance in the 1-0 win over former club Luton Town on Saturday when he fired wide after being put through one-on-one.
But Cleverley says he bounced back from it well and was unlucky not to get a second goal against the Stags soon after his opener.
“I thought after the weekend’s chance, mentally, that was a tough challenge to come back and be so focused for tonight.
“He took his goal brilliantly well, I thought the chance that he missed was a good save rather than a poor finish – I thought he made good contact and he is effective at the minute and I’m loving working with him.”
