Four plead not guilty to Plymouth acid attack murder

Three men and a woman have pleaded not guilty to murder following a fatal acid attack on a man in his own home.

Danny Cahalane, 38, was attacked on Lipson Road, Plymouth, on 21 February and died in hospital on 3 May.

Brian Kalemba, 22, Abdul-Rasheed Adedoja, 22, Ramarnee Bakjas, 23, all from London, and Jude Hill, 43, from Plymouth, appeared at Winchester Crown Court.

Two other men and a woman have previously denied murder.

Mr Kalemba, Mr Adedoja and Mr Bakjas also pleaded not guilty to involvement in an organised crime group.

Mr Adedoja and Mr Bakjas denied conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm.

Three others charged with murder, Israel Augustus, 26, from London, Paris Wilson, 35, from Plymouth, Isanah Sungum, 22, from London, have previously pleaded not guilty.

Seven have been charged with participating in an organised crime group, including Arrone Mukuna, 25, London, Paris Wilson, Jean Makuna, 23, from London, Mr Sungum, Ms Hill, Jenna Said, 39, from Plymouth and Israel Augustus.

Three others charged with conspiracy to murder include Ms Wilson, Jean Makuna and Arrone Makuna.

Ms Wilson, Jean Makuna, Arrone Makuna were also charged with conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm.

Mr Cahalane was described by his family as an “outstanding father and son”.

In a statement they said he and his mum had “so much love for each other” and he was “well loved by his family and friends”.

A trial is due to take place at Winchester Crown Court on 13 January.
