Paul Wotton: Torquay United boss frustrated after 1-0 loss at Chesham

Torquay United manager Paul Wotton was disappointed with his side’s attacking play in their 1-0 loss at Chesham United.

The defeat – thanks to a 36th-minute goal from Nathan Minhas – was the Gulls’ first loss in six games as they dropped to fourth place in National League South.

“Our decision-making in the final third, I thought, was really, really poor,” Wotton told BBC Radio Devon.

“I don’t think we started the game positively enough, I thought we played backwards and sideways too much.

“We spoke all week about not doing that, and that’s not chucking the blame on to the players at all – we let Chesham get into their shape and sit in a low block and shuffle and slide across.

“We didn’t move the ball quick enough, I don’t think we played forward enough. I don’t know if we deserved to lose the game, I don’t know if we deserved to win it either.”
