A university building has been evacuated after a chemical leak involving a laboratory oven, firefighters have said.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said eight fire engines were at the scene at the University of Plymouth’s Davy Building, along with some specialist appliances.
A university spokesperson said nobody had been hurt.
Devon and Cornwall Police said it was assisting the fire service with traffic management.
The fire service said crews were checking the building and monitoring gas levels after isolating the laboratory oven where the chemical reaction occurred.
“We will be carrying out safety assessments and environmental protection units are onsite to decontaminate our crew and hazmat team once they exit,” it said.
