Dudley Council embarks on spring Christmas tree planting

A council has planted a dozen Christmas trees in preparation for future festive celebrations.

Dudley Council said it had put the trees in locations across the borough this week as part of a springtime planting project.

The authority said the new trees would improve public spaces and be a permanent and sustainable feature of future Christmas events.

Deputy council leader Paul Bradley said: “Although it is spring, we are already planning for our Christmas events, which bring communities together to celebrate and are a welcome boost to footfall for our traders.”

“We have 12 permanently-planted, rooted trees in place now,” he said

“These trees will not only enhance our public spaces, but will also support biodiversity, improve air quality, and serve as a long-term, eco-conscious alternative for future seasonal displays.”

The council said Christmas switch-on events would take place in Halesowen on 15 November, in Brierley Hill and Stourbridge on 22 November, in Sedgley on 23 November and in Dudley on 6 December.
