A flood warning has been issued in Devon following a night of heavy rainfall in the county.
The Environment Agency issued the warning for the lower River Torridge from Dolton to Bideford, including Taddiport and Weare Giffard.
It said flooding was expected after river levels rose to just below 3.3m (11ft) in areas including Torrington and Weare Giffard, with properties in low lying areas at risk of flooding.
Devon County Council’s highways team said it received reports of trees down on roads including the A396 in Bampton, the A3072 near Crediton and A375 in Gittisham.
A 24-hour Met Office yellow weather warning for heavy rain began at 12:00 BST on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the Environment Agency said: “Over the last 24 hours we have seen heavy rainfall in the north Devon area.
“This is now causing the River Torridge to rise and the river is forecast to continue rising through the morning.
“Residents are strongly urged to take action now.”
