Man charged with Kingsbridge murder appears in court

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman in Kingsbridge.

Rowan Sutton, 30, of West Charleton Court, Kingsbridge, Devon, appeared at Plymouth Magistrates Court charged with the murder of Aimee Pike.

The 22-year-old died on the A379 Embankment Road at New Bridge, Kingsbridge, in the early hours of Wednesday 23 April.

Mr Sutton was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Plymouth Crown Court on Tuesday.

Mr Sutton, dressed in grey clothes, spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.

Det Supt Rachael Bentley, of Devon and Cornwall Police, said the investigation was ongoing.

She said: “I’d like to thank the community for their patience and support while investigation work has been carried out.”

A man in his 50s who was interviewed under caution on suspicion of causing death by careless driving has been released under investigation.
