Man in custody over death of woman, 22

A man has been charged with the murder of a 22-year-old woman in Devon.

Rowan Sutton, 30, from West Charleton Court, Kingsbridge, is due to appear at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers went to the A379, Embankment Road in Kingsbridge at about 04:45 BST on Wednesday where a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man in his 50s who was interviewed under caution on suspicion of causing death by careless driving has been released under investigation.

Det Supt Rachael Bentley said officers were supporting the victim’s family.

She added: “Our investigation remains ongoing and I’d like to thank the community for their patience and support while investigation work has been carried out.”
