Mark Ramprakash: Ex-England batter leaves consultant coaching role with Middlesex

Former England batter Mark Ramprakash has left his role on Middlesex’s coaching staff.

The 55-year-old had been consultant batting coach for the club since 2021.

Ramprakash scored 2,350 runs in 52 Tests for England in his playing career, hitting two centuries.

He began his professional career with Middlesex and spent 13 years with the club scoring 15,046 runs, including 46 hundreds, before joining Surrey for the 2001 season.

His 12 years at The Kia Oval was even more impressive, as he struck 15,837 runs with 61 tons, becoming only the 25th batter to score 100 first-class centuries.

Like his playing career, Ramprakash’s coaching career began with Middlesex in 2012 before he was named England’s lead batting coach in 2014. He departed the role in 2019.

Ramprakash leaves Middlesex with the club second from bottom in County Championship Division Two.

“We thank Mark for his dedication and all that he has done for the club and wish him the best for the future,” Middlesex said in a statement on their website, external.
