Rise in EV charge points in South West, says government

The number of EV charge points in the South West has grown by nearly a third in a year, according to a new study.

The Department for Transport said nearly 1,300 public charge points have been added to the South West charging network since April last year.

It said there were now more than 5,500 public chargers in the region.

The government said it was investing more than £2.3bn to support British carmakers, power growth and protect jobs as part of the Plan for Change.

Future of Roads Minister Lilian Greenwood said: “We want to make sure that drivers in the South West are always close to an electric vehicle charging device.

“That’s’ why it’s great to see the number of public charging devices in the region growing by 30% since April last year, taking us to more than 5,500 public charging devices in the South West.”
