Exeter City Council housing tenants will be able to take part in a week of activities next week as part of Tenant Focus Week.
The information week will run from Monday, 10 March, to Friday, 14 March, with the aim of connecting and communicating with council tenants.
Throughout the week, the Council’s housing team will be carrying out community improvement projects across the city. They will be installing new community planters and engaging in community listening with residents.
The housing team will be working with repairs contractor Mears to deliver a number of social value initiatives on estates across the city, including new community planters for a block of flats in South Street and at Flowerpot/Hayes Barton Court.
Devon Wildlife Trust will also be getting involved, taking a group of tenants on a tour of the DWT gardens at Cricklepit Mill, followed by a session exploring what wildlife-friendly initiatives can be introduced on their estate.
The week will culminate on Friday with a special drop-in advice session at the Council’s Customer Service Centre in Paris Street, Exeter. Between 11 am and 1 pm, housing staff and the benefits and welfare team will be on hand to talk to residents about issues such as damp and mould, Universal Credit, and housing-related complaints. They will also be handing out free goodies to tenants who attend.
Cllr Marina Asvachin, Lead Councillor for Housing, Homelessness Prevention, and Customer Services, said: “This is a great opportunity for tenants to meet with the housing teams and ask any questions about the services we provide.
“Tenant Focus Week is a fantastic opportunity for us to get to know our tenants a little better, and vice versa. It’s also a great chance to get out across the city and make valuable improvements to our community spaces.”
Tenants will also be able to access a number of online podcasts available on the Exeter City Council Spotify page. The podcasts cover a range of housing-related topics, such as repairs and anti-social behaviour. The Council hopes to add more topics throughout the year.
